My poor kitty Fatima died today. Poor thing had been battling cancer for the last six months or so. She was only five years old, and went through a lot of pain in her short life.
She was an alley cat for her first two years, waiting for me at her corner every morning since she was three months old for food and petting. Then I found her in a ditch after getting hit by a car, with both hind legs, pervis and spine fractured. It took us almost six months but she walked again, although her left hind leg was left crooked. She was plump and purring, and loved to sit at the balcony and cuss at the passing pigeons.
Until six months ago, when I noticed that her jaw was starting to grow. Poor thing had bone cancer that slowly ate away half her face, making her look like a zombie cat. Until her last day she was purring and demanding food, and I'm hoping not in much pain.
Some kitties get to live until unimaginable old ages like 17 and 19. Some, well, don't.

Awww no... I'm really really sorry to hear that. We just get so used to pets, especially cats, living for such relatively long times, and there are times that just doesn't happen. It's so sad to hear, but I know she would have had a very good life with you.
Thanks. Some creatures are just unlucky...
Hugs. She had a good life and a happy one up until the nasty disease happened. Even then, she knew she would always have food and shelter and lots of love. Your alley cat would probably have not lived longer than two if you hadn't fed her in the first place. You made a difference.
I'm trying to think of the whole thing this way, but it's not easy. Until her last day, the poor thing was trying to headbong with the others. Much to their credit, the others let her, despite the fact that she smelled quite awful.

I am so sorry about your kitty. I'm glad that she had the time with you that she had, they gave her more life than she would've ever had otherwise.
Thank you, and it's good to hear from you. I hope everything is well with you and yours.

You're right I've been away for quite some time. And thanks for the photo, it's very sweet (duh, it's a cake).
